freedom
At the office we have a workout ball that we trade around to sit on. We are short a computer chair and a few of the interns prefer to sit on it while they work so it has worked out quite nicely. Personally when I see it I can’t help but think of an episode from the office. Now that I have painted the scene a wee bit I will proceed with the real point to this post. Yesterday Chelsea, Naomi, and I were working in the youth office and I was tired of sitting so I started bouncing around the room on the workout ball. It really helped alleviate extra energy I had built up from sitting still for a few hours. After I finished my little break time and return back to my desk Chelsea made the comment something along the lines of, “I lo that this is you after only knowing everyone for about two weeks. I can’t wait to see what it will be like after a year”. It was a completely fair statement. I would say the interns have seen almost every side of me in the short amount of time I have been here. I have expressed myself in my many quarks, in my over the top dramatic fashion, and in my serious and passionate side about life.
Our God’s sense of humor is unlike any other. The fact that in such a short amount of time I have made such a strong impression to be known as an extrovert and a loud person is God being a God of humor. I wanted to give Chelsea some feedback and insight into this joke God had just handed us on a silver platter. After I took a moment to laugh to myself the words that came to me were that the only explanation or reason behind me opening up so quickly has a direct connection with the fact that for a long time I did not live this way and now that I have realized how freeing it is I just want to make up for the time I lost holding back. I have been a part of a community of believers in which I could be vulnerable and in fellowship with God and I could never imagine to going back to a life without this freedom.
Please pray for this weekend. It is the first of our youth retreats. The name of the weekend is freedom. We are praying that the youths minds are expanded to understanding the life God has for each of them is freeing. We want them to know that what God has for them is good and they can live in the freedom he actively offers.
